Wow. I have gone the entire winter without any posts. Overall we had a great winter - minus the fact that it was too long and cold! So here is our winter/spring in a nutshell...
Our most exciting weekly event would have to be going to open skating at the VFW. Nolan and his buddy Tyler have improved so much and really enjoy skating. I know Danny was happy to not have to hold him up for the entire time. However, Danny did take Alaina on the ice for a few laps when we would go. She sure enjoyed skating with Daddy.
Christmas was the usual chaotic fun, but we would not have it any other way! We did not visit Santa this year. Instead we very quickly walked by him at the mall and waved. Neither of my kids were brave enough to sit on his lap. We also had to reassure both of them that Santa was going to drop their presents off in the middle of the street and Mom and Dad would get them. Santa did NOT come in our house ;)
Nolan officially became a BIG BOY when we got him to break his blanket sucking habit (ick I know) but it was his soothing comfort. We got him all "big boy" blankets and he never looked back! I was hoping that him not sucking anymore would help with him getting sick all the time, but unfortunately not. My poor Nolan was sick at least once, if not twice a month all winter. I just pray this means he is going to have a "sick free" summer! Nolan is a huge Daddy's boy and wants to do everything his dad does. He still loves his hockey guys and is still the same old sweet, loving, helpful, caring little man. He is starting to trace his name and is getting very good at drawing shapes and some letters. I cannot express enough how sweet he is.
Alaina is at the age where something new comes out of her mouth everyday! She can count to 15, say her ABC's, sing several songs and she has a great vocabulary. Right after the first of the year she decided to crawl out of her crib, so the next day we had her set up in a big girl bed (she is such a monkey!). We did not get any sleep for about a month after that. She sure is little miss independent! She also decided that she was too big for her booster chair at the table and now sits like a big girl. So dinner time is a constant battle of keeping her at the table...oh well that's the way it goes. She went through a short (happy to say short) phase of biting, scratching, pinching. We got that taken care of right away! She is still a book worm and goes to sleep with about 7 books in bed with her. She finally got all of her 2 year molars!!!! (I sure hate teething) Her favorite phrase is "who dat?" for everything. She continues to be a huge Mommas girl. She likes to sing the National Anthem along with Nolan and introduces her sesame street friends like Nolan introduces his hockey guys. She is obesessed with Barney. Oh my is she sweet, but an equal amount of "stinker" is in her too ;)
I just can't get enough of these 2! I love that they love snuggling in bed together to watch a movie!
My tough Little lady. This is what happens when you sneak up behind your big brother when he is playing baseball!
Swimming fun at Choice for Katelyn's birthday!!
They were so sweet helping my mom put flowers at the cemetery for my Grandma and Grandpa!
Who knew going to the cemetery could be so much fun!
We love when our little cousin Briella comes to visit. I'm not sure how well Briella likes to get tackled though!
Alaina got to ride the pony at the circus!
Kids on Mother's Day.
First time in a photo booth. They are too funny and had lots of fun doing this and they actually turned out pretty good!
My goofy man!
Nolan got a whole golf set from the Whalen's. He is pretty thrilled about it!
