Yes it is true, Alaina Mae is finally here! Alaina Mae Marto was born on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:39am, weighing 8lbs 0.30z and was 20.5inches long. We are so happy to say that she is beautiful and healthy. We could not ask for more. It was a long few days to get her here, but she came out safe and sound. Long story short, Dan and I went in to the hospital Sunday night to get induced, but my body did not want to progress and Alaina could not tolerate the pitocin, so finally on Tuesday morning I had and urgent C-section and she was out in a flash. The hardest part about having a c-section is the weight and activity restrictions. It is killing me to not be able to hold and play with Nolan. I hope after my 2 week check-up they will give me the okay to at least pick him up! Being at home as a family has been so great. Nolan is adjusting to having a new sister very well. He likes to kiss her and really wants to "help" feed her. We feel like the luckiest people in the world right now. Everyone is happy and healthy and we are sitting on Cloud 9. Enjoy some pictures of our new addition!

Yay! I got my first trike and I can almost reach the pedals!

I really like to play T-ball and I am pretty good too!

The T is almost as tall as me! I love being outside

It is the season for baseball hats and I love to wear mine!

Well, we are only days away from having baby #2, but I am pretty sure she will come late like Nolan did. Our actual due date is Monday, May 16th. I have a non-stress test scheduled and as long as the baby is doing good I will continue to be pregnant. I just keep telling myself to be patient! She will be here before we know it. Nolan continues to keep busy and I think he is looking forward to meeting his sister. A few weeks ago Nolan did get PE tubes put in his ears due to the fact that he had fluid in his ears that would not go away. He did great and was back to his usual self shortly after surgery. A week before his tubes he got his first bout of pink eye. We were glad to get that cleared up before his tubes and he did great with the eye drops. We will update as soon as this baby greets us!

Pictures, Pictures, and More Pictures!

I made it to the Circus and even got to ride the horsey! I loved it!

Watching Mickey before bed
We love weekend mornings! Even Bauer got to snuggle in.

Coloring is my new favorite activity

Still a book nerd

I finally made it to the Splash Park. I was scared at first, but learned

quickly that I loved it!

Yay! My Sister's room is almost ready. I love to play in there.

I got my own chair and it even pulls out into a bed.

I think it is very cool and love to invite Mom and Dad to sit with me.

Oh Bauer!

Daddy taught me how to hold my hand over my heart

during the National Anthem.

Love to shovel. Unfortunately there was still snow to shovel in April. Ugh.

We have been very busy trying to get ready for this little girl to come meet us! We are so excited and only have to wait 4 more weeks. It is hard to believe we are adding another person to the family. I hope Nolan is as excited to have his sister here as he is about her bedroom. He is keeping busy as usual and surprises us daily with new words and things he comes up with. His new things are coloring, wanting to eat Ketchup with everything, and picking lint out of his toes. Sounds kind of gross, but my weird child needs to pick the lint out of his toes before his bath. I am sure it is my fault for mentioning once that the link was "icky". Now he sits and picks it out saying "icky". We just have to laugh. We are very much looking forward to meeting our new addition and to some nicer, warmer weather! The next time I post we will hopefully have a new baby to introduce!!

18 months!

So fresh and so clean!

Watching my favorite show before bed - Mickey Mouse!

Me and uncle Jake watching hockey

Reading to Daddy
I have a thing with every one's shoes

I HAVE to help vacuum every time! My Mom and Dad
hope I like it when I am older too.
Mmmmm! That was a good Popsicle!

Very content watching hockey

Nolan had his 18 month checkup today. Everything went really well, minus his panic attack while he got weighed and got his ears checked. He also got a few shots that Danny got to sit with him for while I sat in the waiting room listening to him scream and yell for me, but he survived! He also said his first full sentence during the appointment..."I WANT MY MOMMY!" We had to laugh and were completely surprised to hear an actual sentence. He does repeat just about everything we say and has added many words to his vocabulary, mainly names. Some new words: Tyler, Kyler, Holly, Jordon, Sydney, Scott, Casey, Mike, Jake, Katie, Krissy, Please!!!, Pop (for Popsicle), Love you, Mickey, blanket, Fight (for some reason he says this when we watch hockey), Food, Fork, Water, Stick, Puck, Cold, Done, Full, Poop...basically he tries to say everything we ask him to say. When we ask him who his best friend is he usually says Bauer. He is obsessed with watching Mickey Mouse and Hockey. He cannot go a day without eating a popsicle, they are a must have favorite for him. He is a typical toddler though with his eating habits. One day he will eat great, the next he just throws his food. Very frustrating! Nolan's sister is doing great too. I am starting to feel her move a lot and I am measuring right on. I am anxious for her to come but still have lots to do before she gets here.

Happy New Year!

Our first picture of our little GIRL!!!!

Nolan on Christmas morning. He loved the Elmo
slippers Santa got him and the books too of course!

Nolan is so good at helping let Bauer in and wiping his paws.

Poor little guy's rash

Nolan got a cowboy hat from his Grandma Mae for Christmas
and it matched pretty good with the shirt he got! He felt pretty cool
riding the horsey later that night.
Dancing with Grandpa on Christmas. He also
got his first (and last) Sioux jersey from Jake and Krissy!

Just a GLIMPSE of the wonderful craziness at the purpur Christmas
(Nolan is hiding on the couch with Sydney by the window)

Well, it has been a very busy month with Christmas and the new year. We all enjoyed our Christmas and were able to spend lots of good time with family. Nolan did have some anxiety for the Purpur Christmas, which is expected when there are 40-some people at your Grandma's house and he usually rules the place! Finally by 8:00 he started to come around. He didn't make it to bed until 10:00 and slept in the next day until 9:45!! Too bad I couldn't sleep in...I was too anxious for him to see what Santa brought him. Luckily before Christmas came Nolan got the flu bug and my poor guy dealt with a double ear infection and bronchitis. I was just glad he got over all that icky stuff before Christmas. He was on amoxicillian and after about 8 days broke out in hives. Hopefully he doesn't have a true allergy to it. I can't forget to mention our BIG NEWS!! Dan and I had our ultrasound last week and to our complete surprise it looks like we will be having a little girl!!!! I could hardly believe it, but I am of course thrilled! Most importantly everything looks good and healthy. My due date has now moved from May 16th to the 18th. This little one was not moving a whole lot (just rubbing her eyes mostly) but her mouth was sure going! I hope this doesn't mean we will have a lippy girl to deal with! LOL! The ultrasound tech said she had a very nicely shaped head...good to know I guess! I will end with a few new things about Nolan: he liked saying "Ho, Ho, Ho" every time we saw a Santa, he really loves to watch the kids at the park play hockey and yells "go, go, go!" when he watches ( I just hope it's because he wants to play and not cheer for hockey like I did!), he loves, loves, loves to ride the horsey at Gma B's, his eye teeth are getting close to coming in and are bugging him a lot, he loves to put his Daddy's hats on and he says "hat", he says "it's hot" every time he eats or looks at the microwave or oven, he is very busy and I can hardly take a picture of him or video tape him because he wants to take the picture or tape...just a happy and healthy boy! Happy 2011 everyone!

Here Comes Santa Claus

Meeting Santa
Checking Santa over

Nolan likes to wear Daddy's clothes

All bundled up for some sledding

Great G'ma Mary got a new TV on Thanksgiving and I got the box!

Nolan finally got to meet Santa for the first time last week! He was like any other 15 month old that was scared as could be and as Danny says, Nolan had a death grip on Dan while they walked up to him. There were some tears, but once Nolan got to eat some of the candy cane Santa gave him, they were friends. We might have been a little much for Santa, because as soon as we got our picture Santa left to go take a break. We all had a very good Thanksgiving as well. Nolan was great at both my Mom's and Danny's parents'. This past month Danny and I left Nolan for the first time for the weekend. We went to Omaha to watch Jake play. It was a fun trip, but I am pretty sure I will NOT be leaving Nolan for a while. I had a hard time being away from him. Sunday could not come fast enough. A few new things Nolan is doing: his short little legs have finally allowed to him to climb on and off the couch, he knows what the cow says, what the dog says, he tells Bauer and Daddy that they are silly ("tilly"), he enjoys sledding to Calvary's parking lot, he is still naughty and whiny only when Mom is around, he calls my mom Moooomm (how I say it), and I am MaMa. He is fun and very busy. Something new everyday it seems.

Hockey, Halloween and a HEARTBEAT!!!!!

I really didn't want my picture taken in my Lion Costume
but here is me and Bauer on Halloween
I think it's funny when Mommy puts her hair clip in my hair
Daddy doesn't think it's funny!
This is also my scrunchy nose smile

Climbing in my book basket...it's one of my new
favorite things to do.

Daddy helping me paint my name on my pumpkin

I am happy to become a big brother!!

It was a very busy weekend with the Sioux in town and all the trick-or-treating we did. Nolan went to the game on Saturday night and had lots of fun. He wasn't quit sure what to think of the starting line up and loud music, but it sure was interesting! We started out trick-or-treating around 4, and between the grandparents and friends' houses we stopped at we didn't get home until 7:30. Needless to say it was a long night, but we had lots of fun and Nolan slept great. He was a Lion, and thought it was funny to "scare" people. He really hated the car rides and the in and out of the car seat, but he thought it was worth it with all of the attention and great Halloween gifts and treats! Danny and I also had a very exciting day today. It was our first OB appointment for baby Marto #2!! We were so happy to hear the strong heartbeat. I forgot how fun it was to listen to that little heart. We are due May 16th, so Nolan and his brother or sister will be about 21 months apart. We weren't expecting to get pregnant so quickly, but we are thrilled and can't wait for our kids to be good buds. I am definitely expecting a very busy summer while I am off on maternity leave.
A few more quick notes about Nolan...he is going trough a naughty phase, but it is only for his mommy. He thinks it is so funny to pull my hare, scratch me and kick me. The bad part is that he thinks it is even funnier when I tell him NO! He loves to kiss mommy's baby. When I ask him if he is thirsty or wants a drink of water he replies with a "aaahhh". He likes to cheers with daddy. His bow-legs and pigeon toes are getting better! He eats and snacks all day long. He likes to do somersaults. He has a new scrunchy nose smile that Danny calls his evil smile. I am trying to teach him some sign language. He loves, loves, loves to give Bauer treats and he makes us laugh all the time!
